AirComParts ASME Safety Relief Valve, 3/4 in. NPT, 50 to 175 PSI
A bigger safety valve does not mean a higher set pressure. It means more flow at whatever pressure it is set to. That distinction catches people out when they move up from 1/2 in., because the 3/4 in. body roughly doubles the relieving capacity at the same set point: 233 CFM at 50 PSI where the half inch manages 108.
Set pressures
- 50 PSI, 233 CFM (S1065)
- 75 PSI, 325 CFM (S1400)
- 100 PSI, 417 CFM (S1401)
- 175 PSI, 686 CFM (S1404)
The 150 PSI version is stocked separately as S1403 and the 200 PSI version as S1405.
Where this size belongs
Three quarter inch valves are the normal fit on 120 to 240 gallon receivers and on the discharge of rotary screw packages in the 25 to 75 HP range. They also show up as the second valve on a large vessel where one device cannot pass the full output of a duplex or triplex set.
If you are replacing like for like, check the existing valve's stamped set pressure and capacity rather than assuming the previous installer got it right. Mismatched safety valves are one of the more common things we find on used equipment, usually because somebody grabbed whatever was on the shelf.
Installation
Vertical, into a dedicated port on the vessel or on rigid pipe upstream of every isolating valve. Do not pipe the discharge away unless you have to, and if you do, keep it full bore and short, because any restriction on the outlet reduces the capacity you just paid for. Support the pipe so its weight is not hanging off the valve body.
Brass body, ASME coded, stainless pull ring, factory set and sealed.
