AirComParts ASME Safety Relief Valve, 1-1/4 in. NPT, 125 to 200 PSI
If you are here you probably already know why: a 1 in. valve would not pass the output and the inspector said so. This is the 1-1/4 in. body, ASME coded brass, 1085 to 1674 CFM.
Set pressures
- 125 PSI, 1085 CFM (S1510)
- 135 PSI, 1129 CFM (S1507)
- 175 PSI, 1477 CFM (S1511)
- 200 PSI, 1674 CFM (S1509)
150 PSI is listed as S1508.
Why the capacity barely changes from the 1 in. valve
At 125 PSI both the 1 in. and the 1-1/4 in. valve are rated 1085 CFM, and at 175 PSI both are 1477. That is not a typo in the table. The two sizes share a seat and orifice; what changes is the connection thread. So if your reason for going to 1-1/4 in. is more flow, it is not there. If your reason is that the vessel has a 1-1/4 in. tapping and you would rather not run a bushing into a relief device, that is a good reason, and bushing down a safety valve connection is poor practice anyway because the restriction eats into rated capacity.
Where you genuinely need more flow than these pass, fit a second valve. Capacities add.
Before you order
Check the ASME nameplate on the vessel for the maximum allowable working pressure and set the valve at or below it. Check the combined output of every compressor that can feed the receiver. And measure the tapping rather than trusting the drawing, because large receivers are frequently re-ported during their service life and the paperwork does not always follow.
Brass body, stainless pull ring for the manual lift test, factory set and sealed.
