Like the rest of the series it is cast iron and turns slowly, 700 RPM, which is how a reciprocating pump earns a long life instead of a warranty claim. Four cylinders in two stages give it 34 CFM at 175 PSI, enough to run a two-bay shop or a small production line off one machine.

Which unloading do you need
The standard EC-10 suits ordinary start-stop control, where the pressure switch cuts the motor and the centrifugal unloader bleeds the head for an unloaded restart. The EC-10U carries head unloaders instead, which is what constant-run, dual-control and engine-driven packages need, because on those the pump never stops and has to be able to freewheel against no pressure. Match the unloading to the control scheme, not to the price.
Service notes
At 10 HP and 175 PSI the intercooler is doing serious work, so keep it and the flywheel fins clean and make sure the belt guard is not choking the airflow. A four-cylinder pump also holds more oil and makes more heat than a twin, so stay on the oil change interval and keep the intake filter clean. Inserted rods mean the bearings can be replaced rather than the whole pump.
