When to Change the Cartridge

Champion designs the Intelli-PAK cartridge for six months of continuous use when the unit is correctly sized to the CFM flow of the compressed air system feeding it. In practice the interval moves with your carryover rate, your ambient humidity and how much of the plant drains into the unit. A cabinet running past its design life is the single most common reason a facility fails a discharge sample, so most shops put the change on a calendar and keep a spare cartridge on the shelf.

A cartridge that has stopped adsorbing gives no obvious external symptom, so beyond the design interval the check is a discharge sample held against a jar of tap water. Change on the calendar rather than waiting for a visible failure. The plant does not have to come down for the swap: the connections close off as the cartridge is disconnected, and you can isolate the drain lines feeding the cabinet first if you want a completely dry change.

Changing It Takes Minutes

The cabinet opens to the cartridge, which uses smart-technology connections. Once you disconnect it the internal valves close, so there is no spill and no drip tray required. Lift the spent cartridge out, drop the new one in, reconnect and close the door. The B21005 fill kit is available if you need it.

Disposing of the Spent Cartridge

Because the media chemically bonds the lubricant rather than merely holding it, a spent cartridge cannot leach its captured oil back out later. Plugs and caps ship with every unit and allow the spent cartridge to travel as non-hazardous waste. You can send it out through your local waste management service, or register the unit and use the manufacturer-sponsored recycling program via the RMA request form at recycleoilsep.com, where your only cost is freight back to the recycle center.
