The ABAC ABC10-2312VP pairs a 10 HP motor with the C2 two-stage cast iron pump on a 120 gallon vertical ASME tank, delivering 32 CFM at a maximum 175 PSI. The vertical tank puts the full 120 gallon reserve into a 30 x 41 in footprint, which suits shops that have ceiling height to spare but not much open floor. This is a three-phase machine only. Choose 230V three-phase (ABC10-2312VP) or 460V three-phase (ABC10-43120VP).

Why the cast iron pump matters
ABAC builds two pump families for its stationary machines. The hybrid pumps mix an aluminum head with cast iron cylinders and suit shops that run air in bursts. The Ironman C2 is fully cast iron, four cylinders in a V arrangement, and ABAC positions it as the premium alternative for the toughest working conditions. Cast iron sheds heat better and tolerates long stretches under load, which is what separates a compressor that survives a decade of two-shift production from one that gets replaced after three years of it. The magnetic starter protects the motor on every start, and the fully enclosed belt guard keeps the drive out of reach without choking off cooling air. That construction is also why this unit weighs 765 lbs rather than the few hundred a comparable aluminum-pump machine would.
How it compares
Same pump, same 32 CFM, different footprint. The ABC10-2312HP horizontal build runs 74 in long and only 50 in tall at 728 lbs, which is the one to pick under a mezzanine or a low ceiling. This vertical unit stands 74 in tall on a 30 x 41 in base and weighs 765 lbs, trading height for floor space. If you want the automatic tank drain, low oil level shut off and belt guard aftercooler, step up to the ABC10-23120VFF full feature vertical. If 32 CFM is already marginal, the ABC10-2312DHP duplex puts two 10 HP pumps on one 120 gallon tank for 64 CFM and lets you service one side while the other keeps air on the line. Below this machine, the 7.5 HP ABC7-2180V2P runs the same C2 pump at 24 CFM on an 80 gallon vertical tank, which is the step down if the panel will not carry a 10 HP three-phase load.
Typical applications
ABAC rates the Ironman range for professional heavy duty work from wood and metal workshops to auto body and repair shops: hammering, spraying, grinding, fastening, orbital sanding, tire inflation and general equipment operation. In practice this is the machine for production shops, fabrication and welding bays, truck and fleet maintenance, tire shops running multiple lifts, and any operation where several air tools or a plasma cutter draw at the same time and the compressor needs to hold pressure through the shift rather than recover between jobs. A plasma table and a pair of impact guns will pull a 20 CFM machine down inside a minute; 32 CFM with 120 gallons behind it gives the pump time to catch up. The 120 gallon reservoir also cuts motor starts, which is the single biggest factor in how long the contactor and the motor windings last.
Installation notes
Plan on a three-phase circuit sized to the motor nameplate and a disconnect within sight of the machine. The 74 in height needs headroom for the tank and clearance above it for service, so check the ceiling before the 30 x 41 in footprint sells you on it. Leave clearance around the flywheel and belt guard for cooling air and for belt service, and pipe the discharge with a flexible connector so vibration does not load the shop line. Keep the room ventilated; a compressor this size moves a lot of heat into a closed room. Oil, the air filter element and the belts are the routine service items, and belt tension is worth checking in the first month after commissioning. Where the air goes to paint, instruments or anything that will not tolerate moisture, add a refrigerated air dryer downstream of the receiver.
Part of ABAC's Ironman cast iron range from the Atlas Copco group. The 120 gallon reservoir holds a steadier line pressure than an 80 gallon build, while the vertical tank frees up the floor space a horizontal receiver of the same capacity would take.
