Pick the model by the CFM you need at your working pressure, not by horsepower. Each size is offered at 100, 125, 150 or 175 PSI and the delivered flow drops as the pressure rises: the 20 HP GA15 makes 101 CFM at 100 PSI and 71 CFM at 175, the 40 HP GA30 makes 195 CFM at 100 PSI and 161 CFM at 175. Two packaging decisions. Base mounted (floor mount) units need a separate receiver; figure 1 gallon of storage per CFM, so a GA22 wants a 120 to 200 gallon tank from our air receiver collection. The tank mounted option puts the compressor on a 132 gallon horizontal receiver and is the quickest install for a single compressor shop (the GA30 is floor mount only). Second, Pack versus Full Feature: the Full Feature (dryer included) build carries an integrated refrigerated dryer inside the canopy, which saves floor space and a day of plumbing. The Pack unit is for plants that already own a dryer or want a desiccant dryer instead; pair it with an FD cycling dryer or FX non cycling dryer sized to the compressor output, and UD+ coalescing filters downstream.

Power: three phase only, 208-230 or 460 volt, selected at order. Budget roughly 55 amps at 230 V or 28 amps at 460 V for the 20 HP, and about twice that for the 40 HP; size the feeder from the nameplate and plan a starter or disconnect if the panel does not include one. Allow 3 feet of clearance on the service side and the cooling air outlet. Ship weight runs 900 to 1,500 lb depending on size and tank, so these go freight to a dock or a liftgate address.
