The Chicago Pneumatic CPS 400 KoD towable rotary screw air compressor is the 150 to 200 PSI workhorse of the CP portable lineup, offered here in every factory configuration: the CPS 400-150 (400 CFM at 100 PSI, 375 CFM at 150 PSI) and the CPS 400-200 MP multi-pressure (350 to 400 CFM across a selectable 100 to 200 PSI), each as a standard, cold weather, or PFF aftercooled and filtered build. All run the 134 HP Kohler KDI 3404TCR Tier 4 Final diesel. For pipeline crews, large sandblasting operations, multi-tool construction sites, and drilling support work, this is the medium-duty machine that sits between the 250 KD8 and the 650 JD class. Why 400 CFM @ 150 PSI is the right answer for so many jobs

150 PSI changes what's possible on a jobsite. Standard 100 PSI machines starve high-pressure pneumatic tools like 1-inch impact wrenches, pipeline torque tools, and large abrasive blast nozzles. The CPS 400-150 delivers 375 CFM at full 150 PSI, enough headroom to run high-pressure tools and support standard 100 PSI tools simultaneously from one machine. That's a category of capability you can't get from a fixed-100-PSI 400 CFM unit.

Pipeline construction: the natural home for the CPS 400-150

Pipeline contractors are the largest single market segment for 400 CFM @ 150 PSI portable air. The combination of high pressure, high volume, and a footprint that still fits standard ROW access roads makes the CPS 400-150 the default spec for:

Large sandblasting and surface prep

375 CFM at 150 PSI runs 2-3 large blast nozzles continuously. For bridge maintenance, ship and barge work, tank exterior blasting, and water tower repaint projects, the 400-150 is right-sized to keep multiple blasters productive without oversizing the diesel package. Spec the optional aftercooler and water separator if your spec requires dry air at the blast pot.

Drilling support and air-hammer work

For shallow water well, geothermal, and exploration drilling, the 400-150 supports air-rotary drilling on smaller rigs and percussion hammer work. The 150 PSI capability is critical for DTH applications where higher starting pressure dramatically improves penetration rate.

Choose your configuration

All five builds share the same Kohler KDI 3404TCR engine, C106 airend, 52 gallon tank and trailer. They differ in pressure range and factory packages. Select the one you need from the Configuration menu.

Trailer or skid

Every configuration ships on a DOT trailer (167 in long, 3 in pintle eye, 4 way flat lighting, VIN) unless you add the skid mount option below, which replaces the trailer with a 121 in skid base for flatbed transport, truck body mounting or permanent placement.

Hose reels are sold as their own items: single live hose reel for the CPS 400 (50 ft or 100 ft) and dual live hose reel for the CPS 400 (50 ft or 100 ft). Both require the extended drawbar.

Synthetic compressor oil rated for 1,000 hours. Engine oil and DEF per Kohler KDI 3404 manual. Air and fuel filters oversized for jobsite dust loads.
