AIRnet Compressed Air Piping Systems

AIRnet is Atlas Copco's modular compressed air piping system, built in three materials: aluminum, stainless steel and polyamide. All three are certified to ISO 8573-1, the aluminum at 1:2:0 class, and all three carry a 10 year manufacturer warranty on air quality from the compressor to the point of use.

Aluminum is what most shops should buy. Threaded black iron starts corroding the day moist air hits the inside wall, and the bore roughens a little more every year, so pressure drop climbs while nobody is watching. Aluminum does not do that. It is also light enough that two people can hang an overhead main, and the joints are cut, deburred and pushed home: no threading dies, no pipe dope, no torch, no hot work permit. Installation labor is where a piping job's real cost lives, and that is the line item aluminum cuts.

Stainless and polyamide

Stainless is for pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and process work where 100 percent oil free is a written spec and the fittings have to be FDA approved with FKM seals, silicone free and Teflon free. It presses together instead of being welded. It is a premium material, and it is worth it exactly where air purity is a requirement rather than a preference. Polyamide sits at the light duty end: fine for a home shop or a small commercial space running a handful of pneumatic tools, and installable by one person without a contractor.

Before you commit

AIRnet is a closed system. The fittings seal against AIRnet pipe and nothing else, so if your building already has a different brand of aluminum pipe in it, you are either standardizing on one or living with NPT transitions at the boundary. Worth knowing before the first stick ships.

And no piping brand fixes undersized pipe. Size the mains to peak CFM with headroom, keep the runs direct, and loop anything bigger than a single bay so air reaches each drop from two directions. Request a quote with your layout and your peak flow and we will spec the diameters, branches and drops.
