The California Air Tools 4620AC is the compressor for people who work indoors and near other people: trim carpenters, cabinet installers, HVAC and low voltage techs, upholstery shops and home garages. At 70 dB you can hold a conversation next to it. The 2.0 HP oil free pump delivers 5.3 CFM at 90 PSI, which keeps up with brad and finish nailers, staplers, blow guns, tire inflation and short bursts from a 3/8 inch impact or die grinder. It is not meant for continuous draw tools such as DA sanders, HVLP spray guns or a cutoff wheel; for those step up to the 20 gallon 20060CAD or a 10 CFM class compressor.

Power and setup

It plugs into a standard 120 V outlet and draws 15 A, so run it on its own circuit and avoid long extension cords, which starve the motor and trip breakers. If you need reach, add hose length instead of cord length; a 50 foot 3/8 inch air hose costs very little pressure at this flow. The 4.6 gallon aluminum twin tank cannot rust from the inside, but still drain it after each use. There is no oil to check or change.

What to pair it with
