Who the California Air Tools 5020W is for
The 5020W is the jobsite version of the California Air Tools 2 HP pump: a 5 gallon steel tank in a protective roll cage, big flat free wheels and a telescoping handle, so it rolls over gravel and up a ramp and survives a truck bed. It makes about 5.3 CFM at 90 PSI, the same pump as the 10020C and 20020, which runs two finish nailers or one framing nailer without a pause, plus a blow gun and a tire chuck. At 70 dB a trim crew can use it inside an occupied house. The 5 gallon tank is the trade off: it refills in 60 seconds and recovers from 95 to 125 PSI in 20 seconds, but it has little reserve for a sander or a grinder, so keep those on a bigger tank.
Power and placement
It draws 14 amps at 120 V. Use the nearest 15 or 20 amp outlet, keep it on its own circuit, and run air hose to the work instead of an extension cord. The Easy Start valve lets it start on cold mornings and on a generator. The pump is oil free; tip the unit to drain the tank at the end of the day. At 82 lb it is a two person lift into a van, so use the wheels and handle wherever you can.
