The ABAC AB7-2180VFF is the Full Feature build of the 80 gallon vertical AB7 platform. The T39 two-stage hybrid pump pairs an aluminum head and aftercooler with cast iron cylinders, so heat and moisture come out of the air before it reaches the tank, and the FF specification adds a pressure-actuated automatic tank drain and a low oil level switch. It delivers 22.2 CFM at a maximum 175 PSI, and the same build is offered on 230V single-phase, 230V three-phase or 460V three-phase power.

What Full Feature buys you
Two jobs keep a piston compressor alive: draining the condensate out of the receiver and keeping oil in the crankcase. Both are daily checks, and in a shop where the compressor belongs to nobody in particular, both get skipped. The pressure-actuated automatic drain bleeds the tank on its own, so water does not sit against the steel between services and rust the receiver from the inside. The low oil level switch watches the one failure that destroys a pump in minutes rather than months. If the compressor lives in a back corner and the person who used to check it has moved on, the FF specification is the version to buy. If somebody opens the drain every morning without being asked, the standard AB7-2180V saves the difference.
How it compares
Every 80 gallon AB7 delivers the same 22.2 CFM at 175 PSI, so the choice comes down to footprint and what is fitted. The AB7-2180V is the standard vertical build without the automatic drain and the oil level switch. The AB7-2180HFF is this same Full Feature specification on a horizontal tank for shops without 75 inches of ceiling, and the AB7-2180HS is the standard horizontal. Where 22.2 CFM is more than the shop draws, the 5 HP AB5-2180VPFF runs 16.6 CFM on the same 80 gallon vertical tank in the same Full Feature trim. Two other 7.5 HP machines sit on the same 80 gallon vertical receiver and answer different constraints: the Ironman ABC7-2180VFF trades a little airflow, 21 CFM, for a fully cast iron C1 pump built for long duty cycles, and the AB7-2180VQP Quiet Power holds 22.3 CFM inside a sound enclosure at 69 dBA where the compressor shares space with people.
Typical applications
Body shops, fabrication and welding bays, woodworking shops, tire and service work, and farm buildings: impact wrenching, grinding, orbital sanding, fastening, and air or water spraying where tools run through most of the shift. A two-stage pump recovers faster than a single-stage machine of the same horsepower, so two or three technicians can stay on tools without waiting on pressure. The vertical tank keeps the full 80 gallon reserve on a 25 by 34 inch footprint, which is most of the reason shops choose vertical over horizontal when the ceiling allows it.
Installation notes
Specify the voltage and phase that matches your panel before ordering, because the three builds are not field convertible. The 230V single-phase version draws the highest current of the three and normally wants a dedicated circuit sized to the motor nameplate; the 230V and 460V three-phase versions suit shops already on three-phase service. Plan for 75 inches of clear height plus room above for the discharge line, leave service clearance at the drain and the belt guard, and keep the intake away from paint fumes and sanding dust. Route the automatic drain discharge to a collection point rather than onto the floor, since what it bleeds is oily condensate. Belts, filters and oil are the routine service items on this range, so keep a set on the shelf.
A two-stage pump still pushes warm, wet air into the line, so size a refrigerated dryer above the 22.2 CFM output, such as the ABAC COOL 35, before the air reaches paint, tires or pneumatic controls.
