The Champion CRHA Series is a line of high inlet temperature refrigerated compressed air dryers built to take hot, saturated air directly off a reciprocating compressor discharge. Six models cover 15 to 100 SCFM, all rated for inlet air up to 180°F (82°C). Because the heat exchanger and refrigerant circuit are sized for hot inlet conditions, a CRH dryer can be plumbed straight downstream of a piston compressor without a separate aftercooler, which removes a component, shortens the install and lowers total installed cost.
Why a High Inlet Temperature Dryer
Reciprocating compressors discharge air far hotter than rotary screw machines, commonly 160°F and up under load. A standard refrigerated dryer fed air that hot will run out of capacity, ice the evaporator or simply pass wet air downstream. Shops usually answer that by adding a pre-cooler or oversizing the dryer. The CRH Series removes the workaround: it holds a stable +50°F pressure dew point at full rated load on 180°F inlet air, in a warm room, with the compressor loaded.

| CRHA80A1 | 80 SCFM | 3/4" FNPT | 36.6" × 17.9" × 26.7" | 141 lbs |
| CRHA100A1 | 100 SCFM | 1" FNPT | 36.6" × 17.9" × 26.7" | 150 lbs |
Rating conditions are 180°F inlet temperature, 125 psig inlet pressure, 100% inlet relative humidity and 100°F ambient. Size against your compressor's actual delivered SCFM, not its horsepower badge, and call us if the duty cycle is continuous.

R513A Refrigerant
Every CRH dryer ships factory-charged with R513A, an HFO blend with roughly half the global warming potential of legacy R134a. As the AIM Act and provincial F-Gas rules continue phasing down high-GWP refrigerants, R513A equipment stays compliant without a mid-life retrofit.
Ideal Applications
The CRH Series is the right answer wherever a piston compressor feeds air-consuming equipment that cannot tolerate moisture. The 15 to 35 SCFM models suit single-bay auto shops, small fabrication benches, dental and laboratory air, and tire and lube service. The 60 to 100 SCFM models fit multi-bay collision centers, dedicated paint shops, sandblasting cabinets, CNC pump rooms, dry instrument loops and plant air mains in small to mid-sized manufacturing. Removing moisture at the dryer protects every tool, valve, cylinder and filter downstream of it.
Installation Notes
Each dryer ships fully charged, factory tested and pre-wired for a standard 115V outlet. Mount the dryer downstream of the air receiver and ahead of the filtration train, leaving 12 inches of clearance above the unit for the top-mounted fan. Plumb the inlet and outlet, route the drain to a sump or oil/water separator, and plug it in. Most installs finish in under an hour. CRH dryers cannot ship UPS and move by LTL freight.
Recommended Filtration
Because of the temperature rating, filtration on a CRH system belongs downstream of the dryer, not ahead of it. Champion publishes these pairings:
| Dryer | Particulate Filter | Oil Removal Filter |
|---|---|---|
| CRHA15 / CRHA25 / CRHA35 | CFL100CDG | CFL100EDG |
| CRHA60 / CRHA80 / CRHA100 | CFL170CDG | CFL170EDG |
Service and Replacement Parts
CRH dryers are supported by the Champion Denver Air Dryer Service Group. Replacement filter elements, drain valves and refrigerant service parts are available through us. Keeping the condenser coil clean and the drain clear is most of the maintenance these units need. Call with your serial number and we will pull the right part number.
Why Buy from Warthog Air Compressor Store
We are an authorized Champion Pneumatic distributor. Every CRH dryer ships with the full factory warranty, application support from people who size compressed air systems for a living, and freight from regional stock. If you are not certain which model fits, call before you buy. We will look at compressor horsepower, actual delivered SCFM, duty cycle and ambient temperature and tell you straight whether a CRH is the right dryer or whether you want a standard refrigerated or desiccant unit instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I still need an aftercooler with a CRH dryer?
No. That is the reason this series exists. The CRH accepts inlet air up to 180°F, which covers a hard-working reciprocating compressor's discharge. A standard refrigerated dryer would need an aftercooler ahead of it.
What dew point does the CRH achieve?
About +50°F pressure dew point at full rated load. That is right for general industrial and indoor air lines. If you need a below-freezing dew point, for outdoor lines or instrument air, you want a desiccant dryer instead.
Can I use a CRH on a rotary screw compressor?
You can, but the ratings are set against reciprocating duty. A rotary screw runs cooler and delivers continuously, so a CRH sized by horsepower alone will usually come up short. Size by delivered SCFM, or ask us and we will check it against your machine.
Does the 15 SCFM model run on a normal wall outlet?
Yes. Every model in the series is 115V single phase 60 Hz and plugs into a standard outlet. No electrician needed for the hookup.
