Atlas Copco LT2-10S PP: 2 HP silenced industrial piston compressor, base mounted, 460 V three phase

The Atlas Copco LT2-10S PP (part number 8115420009) is the smallest machine in the LT industrial piston range: a 2 HP (1.5 kW) single stage, oil lubricated cast iron pump direct coupled to a 460 volt three phase 60 Hz motor with a direct on line starter, built into a sound enclosure. The 10 in the model name is the working pressure in bar, 145 PSI. PP means power pack: this is a base mounted unit with no receiver, so you supply the tank. S means silenced; the enclosure brings the noise down to the high 70s dBA, which is why these end up in labs, dental and medical rooms, packaging lines and small workshops where a bare piston compressor would be too loud.

What it delivers

Atlas Copco rates the 50 Hz version of this pump at 3.4 l/s, about 7 CFM, at 10 bar. The 60 Hz unit sold here turns faster and delivers slightly more; ask us for the exact 60 Hz data sheet figure before you size it. In practice a 2 HP unit of this class runs a couple of blow guns, a small bank of pneumatic cylinders, instrument air for a test bench, or one air tool at a time with a 30 to 60 gallon receiver behind it. It is not a shop compressor for impact guns and sanders; for that look at the 5 HP air compressors.

Install notes

You need 460 volt three phase service; this version is not single phase. Mount it on a level floor near a receiver with a check valve between pump and tank, and fit a pressure switch sized for the motor or use the DOL starter with a pressure switch pilot. Leave 20 inches of clearance at the enclosure intake and exhaust. The pump uses the same stainless steel valves and start stop control as the rest of the LE and LT line, so service is an oil change and an intake filter.
