The ABAC AS-20253BM is a 20 HP rotary screw air compressor for operations that have outgrown a 15 HP machine and need steady air across several bays at once. It delivers 60.6 CFM at 125 PSI and runs at 71 dBA. This is the base mount version, so it ships without a tank and plumbs into an air receiver you already own or one sized to your demand. Power is 208-230-460V three-phase.

What the footprint buys you
The AS-20 shares the same 37 by 28 inch cabinet as the 15 HP AS-15253BM and weighs 516 lbs against its 478 lbs, so stepping up from 52.1 CFM to 60.6 CFM at the same 125 PSI costs no extra floor space. That matters in a plant room that is already full. If the work needs pressure rather than volume, the 150 PSI AS-20503BM delivers 54 CFM and the 175 PSI AS-20753BM delivers 48.5 CFM from the same 20 HP motor. If it is quiet running and more air you want rather than more pressure, the 20 HP AS-20S253BM delivers 81.9 CFM at 67 dBA in a larger 690 lb cabinet, so compare the two before you commit the floor space.
Inside the AS-B air end
ABAC builds the AS-B range around a fully integrated aluminum block air end, an energy-efficient motor and eco-friendly vertical oil separation technology. The air end design is aimed at limited air loss, low oil carryover, long service life and low noise and vibration, which is what lets a screw run loaded all shift where a reciprocating machine would be heat soaked and cycling. The digital controller handles start and stop, load and unload, and carries menu driven programmed maintenance, so service intervals are tracked by the machine rather than guessed at. ABAC also designs the AS-B cabinet as one of the smallest footprints in its class, which is why a 20 HP machine fits a 37 by 28 inch plan.
Base mount or tank mount
Base mount is the starting point for a modular compressed air system. You pick the receiver, you pick where it sits, and you can oversize the tank to smooth a peaky demand profile without buying a bigger compressor. If you would rather have it arrive as one piece, the tank mount version puts the same air end on a 131 gallon ASME receiver, and the tank mount with integrated dryer adds moisture control in the same package.
Planning the installation
Size the receiver to the way your shop actually draws air: a plant that pulls in heavy bursts needs more stored air than one with a steady load, and on a base mount build the tank is yours to choose. Leave clearance around the cabinet for cooling airflow and keep front access clear for service. Run the machine on a three-phase circuit sized to the motor nameplate, and confirm which of the 208, 230 or 460 volt taps your panel supplies before the electrician arrives. Oil, oil filter, air filter and separator element are the consumables on a screw compressor. Keeping a set on the shelf is what stops a routine service from becoming downtime.
Drying the air it makes
A rotary screw delivers warm, saturated air, and 60.6 CFM of it will carry a lot of water into your lines if nothing removes it. Size a refrigerated dryer above the compressor's output rather than level with it, so the dryer is not working at its limit on a hot day: the ABAC COOL 100 is rated 100 CFM at a 232 PSI maximum working pressure and leaves real headroom over this machine. The rest of the sizes are in the ABAC COOL refrigerated dryer range. Add a filter ahead of any finishing or instrument air, and if you would rather buy the dryer already matched, mounted and wired, the AS-20253TMD ships the same air end with receiver and dryer on one base.
Typical applications
Production and fabrication floors, multi-bay automotive and fleet service, tire and truck shops, cabinet and woodworking plants, blast and finishing booths, and any operation where a reciprocating compressor is running loaded most of the shift just to hold line pressure. A rotary screw is built for continuous duty, so it keeps a steady line pressure through the whole shift instead of recovering between jobs. At 60.6 CFM this machine will carry several air tools at once, a plasma table, or a booth running alongside the rest of the shop, which is usually the point at which a plant stops adding piston compressors and consolidates on one screw.

CFM measured per ISO 1217 Annex C, quoted at 109 PSI for 125 PSI maximum units. Noise measured per ISO 2151:2004 using ISO 9614/2.
