Eastern Air Products 5 Micron Interceptor - EA20GE
This is a replacement 5 micron interceptor element, part number EA20GE. An interceptor is the coarse stage at the front of a filtration train. Rated at 5 micron as the product title states, it takes out rust, pipe scale, desiccant dust and bulk water so that the fine stages behind it are not asked to handle debris they were never designed for.
Think of it as bulk protection rather than air quality in its own right. Air that has passed an interceptor is not yet clean enough for instruments or finishing, which is why an interceptor is normally followed by a fine coalescing stage. The cartridges for that stage are grouped under coalescing filters and elements, and the housings sit with the rest of our air filters.
Running an interceptor is the cheapest way to extend the life of the expensive elements downstream. Replace it when differential pressure rises or on the annual interval, and order to the code on the cartridge you are pulling, since the EA20 group covers several media grades at the same physical size.
