Donaldson / Ultrafilter Adsorber Element 1C486076
An activated carbon adsorber element replacing Donaldson / Ultrafilter part number 1C486076. Adsorber elements are the final polishing stage in a compressed air treatment train, holding oil vapour on the surface of the carbon bed rather than straining it out mechanically.
Carbon has a finite capacity, so an adsorber does not signal the end of its life with rising pressure drop the way a particulate element does. Change it on a time or throughput schedule set by the housing manufacturer, not by differential pressure.
An adsorber assumes the air reaching it is already dry and free of liquid oil, which is why it belongs downstream of an air dryer and a coalescing stage. For the dryers that do that upstream work, see our desiccant air dryers.
