This replacement differential pressure indicator is offered as an equivalent to the Domnick Hunter DPI gauge fitted to compressed air filter housings. It reads the pressure difference across the filter element, which is the clearest signal you have for knowing when an element is loaded and genuinely due for replacement.
Running a filter without a working indicator tends to produce one of two costly habits: changing elements far earlier than needed, or leaving a clogged element in service while the compressor burns extra energy pushing air through it. A gauge that actually reads turns the change interval into a measurement instead of a guess.
The indicator mounts to the filter head it was designed for and does not alter filtration performance on its own. Fit it alongside fresh coalescing filters and elements when you service the housing, and see the wider range of compressed air filters if you are specifying a new installation.
