4PS4801 is a Chicago Pneumatic air/oil separator part number, and this listing supplies an equivalent replacement for it. In a rotary screw compressor the separator is what pulls oil back out of the air/oil mixture leaving the airend so the oil returns to the sump and the air continues downstream.
Running a separator past its service life costs energy. Restricted media forces the compressor to work against a higher differential pressure, and any oil that slips past ends up loading the filters further down the line. Replacing it on the recommended interval is one of the cheapest ways to hold efficiency.
