Aircon minimum pressure check valve (MPCV) for rotary screw air compressors. It holds minimum sump pressure so oil circulates properly during start-up and light load, and its built-in check function stops compressed air from flowing back through the airend when the compressor stops. Built by Air-Con Control Valves.

Flow is rated at 1 psi pressure drop, 100 psig inlet, 180°F fluid temperature.
Pressure and temperature ratings
- Cracking (set) pressure: specifiable from 40 psig to 200 psig
- TFE (Teflon) poppet: rated 250 psig, 250°F
- Metal poppet: rated 350 psig, 300°F
- Body: E-coated ductile iron, nickel plating available
- Springs: steel main spring, stainless steel poppet spring
- Threads: NPT standard; BSPT, BSPP and ORB (SAE J1926-1) available
- Independent poppet prevents back flow
Symptoms of a failed MPCV
- Pressure will not build, or builds slowly
- Air blowing back through the inlet at shutdown
- Poor oil separation and high oil carryover
- Separator tank bleeding down while the unit is loaded
Before you order
Port size alone does not settle it. Cracking pressure is set by the spring and is built to order anywhere in the 40 to 200 psig range, so a valve replacing a high set-point original is a specified build rather than an off-the-shelf part. Poppet material sets the ceiling: specify a metal poppet for systems running near or above 250 psig.
Send us your compressor make, model, serial number, operating pressure, cfm, and the part number stamped on the valve you are replacing, and we will confirm the correct build before you order.
