Aftercoolers For Air Compressors
Compressed air aftercoolers are a necessity that can often be forgotten or purposefully ignored to cut costs; however, if you try to save by skipping out on the aftercooler, you’ll be signing yourself up for problems with condensation down the road.
Moisture flowing through the compressed air system will throw off the balance of your system, overwhelm the components, and potentially halt the entire production process. Filtration systems can only handle so much, and if your moisture content exceeds those limitations, you may be out of luck. Aftercoolers are the answer to this potential problem.
Aftercoolers are mechanical heat exchangers that pull heat and moisture from your compressed air stream. By immediately cooling the air after compression, more moisture will drop out, which will be removed by the coalescing filters and compressed air dryers.
Aftercooler Primary Functions:
- Drop the temperature of compressed air
- Reduce moisture content in the air
- Protect equipment from excessive heat and moisture
