Oil Filters

Oil filters, typically found in oil-flooded units, remove debris and impurities from the oil used during the compression process. By using oil filters, you improve the lifespan of your equipment and the quality of your air.

Oil Filters for Air Compressors

Oil-injected compressors are some of the most common units available. During the compression process, the chamber is injected with oil to prevent friction. This oil is in the same space as your compressed air, and that air is bringing in dirt and dust from the environment.

Some of these particulates congeal with the oil during compression, creating a wonderful mix of dirt and oil. It may not seem like a lot, but the quantity of particulate matter will increase with each compression. If this goes on for too long, your oil supply can completely congeal together and completely halt production.

Oil Filters take this congealed oil and particulate matter and purify the oil by grabbing the impurities. The oil passes over the folded filter element, so debris gets stuck in the filter while the oil continues moving. When you remove the impurities, the oil’s lifespan is refreshed and reintroduced into the compression chamber.

These filters are necessary to ensure adequate lubrication during compression and increase the longevity of your system. Without an oil filter in place, your compressed air quality will plummet.

Choosing an Oil Filter

Different applications require different degrees of filtration when deciding between specific filters. When selecting yours, consider a few factors:

Filter Quality

When choosing a filter, the higher-quality option is usually the best. It may cost more upfront, but in the long run, it will be cheaper. High-quality filters will have a longer life span and require less maintenance. They require less maintenance because they are less likely to fail and can go longer periods without being overwhelmed or deteriorating.

The most reliable and trusted filters will be the best quality filters. It’s as simple as that: you pay more upfront for an easier time in the long run.

Filter Efficiency

The element in your filter will determine the filtration efficiency. The smaller the space between the filter fibers, the higher the degree of filtration. However, this does come at a cost; the smaller the space, the more the air is slowed down when it runs into it.

With Oil Filters, sizing is less of an issue in order to properly filter the oil. Often, you need a specific product number rather than trying to find the correct answer with the given information. In these cases, you should punch the product number into our search bar.
