Compressed air can be a big benefit to have around your home shop. Most models you find will be single-stage piston compressors as they are the most reliable and cost-effective at that size. Home compressors are perfect for applications that require one tool at a time or smaller volumes of compressed air.
Although they are smaller in size, these compressors do not shy away from a job. Small in stature but not in power, portable compressors can fill the compressed air void in your shop. You may need compressed air in the corner of the shop where your current system doesn’t reach, and just a few CFM at that. Take your compressed air with you, not you to the compressed air.
When selecting the right portable compressor, consider what you will use it for. What type of tools will you run off of it? Where do you need the compressed air? How much compressed air do you need? Those are just a few of the considerations you will want to make before purchasing your own machine.
Types of Personal Compressors:
Compressed air in your home shop can allow you to do the things you love without bringing the entire shop to your garage. Whether you want to inflate your tires or do some additional work at home, there are portable options to fit your needs.
Most shop compressors will be electrically powered; running a gasoline-powered compressor should only be done outside; trapping those fumes inside is a problem waiting to happen. Instead, capitalize on the systems in place with electric portable compressors to power your home shop.
Even home-shop air compressors need to be sized properly so your system can run properly, and you won’t have to overpay for the necessary equipment. Whether running one tool or three different types, all you need to know is how much air your compressed air system requires.
Once you have an idea of the air your system needs, it’s time to start shopping for the right compressor for your application. Your ideal compressor will be determined by the application it is used in and how you will use that compressed air. If you are only planning on inflating your tires, you probably don’t need storage, but if you plan to use your compressor for brad nailing, you will want a storage reserve to work longer before you run out of air.
No matter your application, portable compressed air can benefit you. Whether you are just starting a project or running your own business from your garage, fill in the gaps with portable compressed air. Home air compressors provide benefits that are different from your standard industrial compressors.
