Oil/water separators are a critical part of maintaining environmental standards. When the element becomes saturated, it can’t pull in more oil. When this occurs, you need a separator replacement element.

Compressed Air is dirty; dirt and dust from the environment are pulled into the compression chamber. The debris naturally exists in the environment, just in much lower concentrations. The quantities become a problem when their volume shrinks.
Oil and debris can coagulate during compression, making them harder to remove from the air. The longer they stay together, the harder it is to separate the individual components. This is where your oil-water separator steals the show.
Separator elements filter the oil and debris out of your condensate, allowing moisture to be discharged while the rest is collected into the element. Their efficient condensate processing makes them an excellent solution and ensures environmental compliance.
If you plan on dumping condensate from your compressed air system, you need the PPM (parts per million) of your water to meet environmental standards. Standards depend on location but can range from 10 to 100 parts per million of oil.
As the separator becomes saturated, the PPM of oil increases. Particles that would normally be collected are able to sneak by and remain in the water. If your requirements are low enough, this small increase can net you a hefty fine.
Having a separator in place improves the reliability of your compressed air, and the quality of the condensate being dispensed. Including one in your system will benefit your system and peace of mind.
If you don’t even have a separator for your system, consider getting one here.
