Description
PH 55-550 Extruded Profile Heatless Adsorption Dryers
The Pneumatech PH 55-550 S Extruded Profile Heatless Adsorption Dryers provide users with clean, dry air to extend the life of equipment and products. Heatless adsorption dryers use dry, expanded purge air to remove moisture from the desiccant material.
PH 55-550 S adsorption dryers are available in 2 PDP variants: -20°C/-4°F and -40C°/-40°F.The unique manifold (patent pending) includes pilot air-controlled 3/2-way valves, which switch quickly.
The desiccant is spring-loaded and housed in an extruded aluminum body, which can operate up to 14 barg/203 psig (fatigue load). Pre- and after filters are delivered as standard with every dryer.
Operating costs are optimized due to compressor synchronization and purge nozzle optimization as standard and PDP control as option. The full machine status can be checked on the display of the controller and the vessel pressure gauges on the unit. The controller indicates whether power supply is connected, towers are pressurized, valves are functioning properly or preventive maintenance needs to be done. In case the optional PDP control is connected, the PDP value can monitored from the display. Alarms and warnings can also be triggered remote with the available voltage-free contacts.
Incorporating high-quality components, PH heatless adsorption dryers provide you with clean, dry air to extend the life of your equipment and products. Heatless adsorption dryers use dry, expanded purge air to remove moisture from the desiccant material.
The dryers are equipped with a mounted pre-filter and an integrated after-filter as standard can be installed vertically, and can be wall-mounted with a specially designed wall-mounting kit (optional).
The controller ensures the lowest operational costs thanks to compressor synchronization and the optional PDP control. LEDs on the controller indicate whether the power supply is connected, towers are pressurized, and solenoids are functioning correctly. It also provides preventive maintenance information. Alarms can also be triggered thanks to the available voltage-free contact remotely.

The Basics of Desiccant
All materials can adsorb and desorb water; only the degree of adsorption is different per material. Desiccant used in adsorption dryers is specifically designed to adsorb moisture. Desiccants can release water particles by adding some form of energy to them. This is called regeneration.
Pneumatech adsorption dryers consist of two towers; both filled with desiccant, which alternatively operate in the adsorption or regeneration cycle via a controlled switching mechanism. Once the desiccant is saturated in one vessel, the process is reversed, and the second vessel starts adsorbing.
Adsorption dryers are used when PDPs (pressure dew points) from -10°C/14°F down to -70°C/-94°F are to be achieved. They use a material with a high affinity to moisture, known as hygroscopic material or desiccant. The adsorption of humidity causes the desiccant to be gradually saturated with water. Therefore, the desiccant must be regenerated regularly to regain its drying capacity. Adsorption dryers are typically built with two drying vessels (“towers”) for that purpose: the first tower will dry the incoming compressed air while the second one is regenerated. To ensure continuity, each vessel switches tasks when the other is completely restored. An adsorption dryer is recommended for critical applications below five °C/ 41°F ambient temperature.
